One of the goals I set for myself this year,
was to run 2 races.
As of last weekend,
I'm happy to say: I did it!
(if you didn't know/remember I ran my first back at the end of May...see this post)
After doing that first half marathon I was SO gung-ho to do another,
and I had signed up for the Boise FitOne happening in September.
But then plans changed and I missed it,
and I was bummed ab…
i did it you guys! i ran my first half marathon and lived! it was so fun and i didn't feel like i stressed myself out or pushed myself to some crazy extreme level. so yes, i loved it....okay except for mile 11 when i could feel myself slowing down a little, and i was mad to see peeps passing me...oh, and my legs might have started to feel a little like lead. hah! but i'm already signed up…
so word is out that i am running my first half marathon at the end of the month. and i am totally stoked about it....never thought i'd hear (or read!) myself say that! growing up, i ran cross country during the summers, but always backed out of the races, or made up an excuse. i was too scared i'd end up in last place and i somehow envisioned that there would be like, a million girls lau…
after much begging, pleading, asking, maybe some whining, some not-so-subtle hints, and a few gentle reminders about long-time promises, my hubby finally delivered and surprised me with a treadmill! and yeah it was a total surprise because i had thrown out any hope for one a while ago. we didn't need it. but i could barely contain my excitement when he showed me, and when i stepped on it for…
this morning i went running in the rain. on purpose. if you've been hanging around, you might already know about my dislike for the rain (mentioned here and here, and if you want to read a funny story about me and the rain, go here<<you'll have to scroll down halfway). but anyways. back to the run.

because i've been running on good (non-rainy) days, i'm not 100% on track with the calendar/days schedule, but i am still trying to do every workout.
but so yeah. phase two...it's already killer! ha ha. i thought that maybe the second time a…

i was on my family blog last night looking over some posts when i started getting distracted by the linkwithin boxes at the bottom(darn those things, they just suck ya right in! ha ha). i found all sorts of good memories and i also found some of my old fitness posts. the one i'm sharing today, i wrote back in 2010 and originally came from here.

i don't know what has gotten into my husband lately, but i think it's something good. about a week ago he randomly suggested that we start doing planks before bed. "And we could do it together and make it a little competition...what do you think?" what do i think? i think that's an awesome idea! wait. are you just kidding me?

we were hit with the nasty little bug that has been going around lately, and B got his first little fever. it broke my heart. that was mid-week, the week before last. so we have been taking it easy for about 2 weeks.

the grey and dreariness of Oregon has been wearing on me lately. i totally hate it, and it's on days like this that i want my blue skies and mountains back. buuuuut, because i know i can't let that(the grey and rain and "blah"ness) keep me inside all day, i have been forcing myself to run outside.

..because that is most definitely what i was last week. i blame it on my son's cranky attitude, and the shots he got last Tuesday. i only exercised once..heheh. needless to say, my inner-fitness-guru (trust me, he's there-and if you listen closely-you have one too!) told me that it was time to get movin' and groovin' again.

the mr. snapped these last week before we went out for a run. don't you just want to squish those fat cheekies?!
right now i'm really wishing there was a big free indoor track here. if there was, i know i'd run longer than i do right now. it's not insanely cold here in Oregon, like some places we've lived ::coughrexburgcough:: but i don't want it to get too cold for the b…
