Silhouette and MTC

I'd better start somewhere,
so here I go!
If you've been reading on here or on my personal blog,
you've seen that I have purchased a SilhouetteSD machine.
{which I am stinkin' excited about}

As soon as it arrived I took it straight to my "craft room" to unload,
set up,
and install it.
That was the easy part.
Figuring out which buttons did what in the Silhouette Studio {the software that came with the machine},
took me a little longer.

And I was perfectly content using that software until my Aunt Jill introduced me to a third party software called:
I have to admit,
I was confused at first and just thought:
"Wait, why would I need or use this software?"
and
"What's the point?"
Oh I was niave.
{haha, okay I still am!}
However,
after reading about MTC here and here and here my skepticism quickly faded.
Why did I not know about this sooner?!
Like, say, when I owned a Cricut!

So being converted to MTC,
I installed the software.
And then became stumped as to how in the heck I hook up my Silhouette to MTC?
One call to Jill solved that problem.
My aunt knows this amazing gal that is basically a whiz when it comes to cutting machines.
Her name is Jin Yong and let me tell you,
she's my lifesaver!

I would give a tutorial right about now on how I hooked up my machine to my computer so that it will run with MTC....
BUT I think Jin does a fantastic job at it,
so I'm going to let her show you!
{it helped me LOADS and I didn't even have sound hooked to my new computer yet!}

And don't forget to install the Graphtec CC330L driver to your computer!
Go here to download it.
{it's free99}

For more tips on this software and printer installation,
 check out THIS post Jin did.
{can you tell she's my "go-to" for all things Silhouette?}

Watches, Pillows, and a NEW Machine!

As with most laid back weekends,
I get an undeniable desire to get crafting.
So that's exactly what I did.

When my family came over on Wednesday before heading down to conference,
the girls went out to the bead lady,
and these are some of the beads I picked out.

Something else that was super-duper fun was making felt pillows with Holl and Case.
Now,
when Holl originally brought this idea to my attention my first initial thought was:
Uh, felt??
I don't think it's that cute.
Luckily,
Holl was very persuasive and finally convinced Case {who came into town this week} to do these pillows with her,
and when they showed them to me I became excited!
They are so fun, easy, and adorable!

Yea,
I think they're freaking adorable.
Mine are those top three,
and Holl's is this amazingly cute pink and black one.

.................................

I know this is picture overload,
but just hang in there.
So many fun things happened this weekend and I want to show and tell about them all!
The next item of business is probably my favorite of all.
Because I received a little package in the mail on Friday.......

{Da-da-da-DUN!}
It was my SILHOUETTE MACHINE!

Here is my first project.
I made some labels for my desk.

Then,
while listening to conference,
I was exploring and testing my new software and discovered that it will actually TRACE the outline of whatever picture you want.
Bombdiggity.comspice!
For example:
I googled a random owl picture and saved it to "my pictures",
opened it in the design studio,
clicked "trace",
and dragged the mouse to make a box over the area I wanted copied {or to be cut},
pressed "send to silhouette".
And I got myself a cutie little hootie owl friend.
{as seen above}

I cannot wait to play around more with this,
and more projects are in the making!

Silhouette Banner

My day consisted of coming home from the gym,
showering,
going on a walk with Tank,
and playing with my Silhouette machine.

I thought this sign was appropriate for the time of year.
Now only if the weather would agree.
